Kaitlyn and Wes – sneak peek!

This wedding yesterday. My goodness. I’ve been looking forward to Wes and Kaitlyn’s big day since first meeting them last year, and I can’t wait to pull a full blog post together to show you. There were a lot of gorgeous options for the first look at this amazing event,  but I wanted to share the background for why I chose this particular image.

As you may know, I’m a knitter, so I have a huge appreciation for handmade gifts that are made specifically with someone in mind. The labour and planning involved to create something so special and personal is incredible, and with gifts like these the love is almost tangible.

Last year Kaitlyn’s mom decided that she wanted to do something really special for Kaitlyn and Wes for their wedding, and came up with the idea of this quilt. BUT. She’d never made a quilt before. She spent the last year taking classes, having pictures of these two and Wes’ awesome kids printed on to fabric, and painstakingly creating this work of art to celebrate this incredible day that would bring all of these wonderful people together.

I teared up when Kaitlyn opened it (as I did with many of yesterday’s beautiful moments), and I’m so happy to share this with you all.

Weddings are the best, aren’t they?
