Can we talk about this Port Elgin venue?
Oh my goodness. When Alison first sent me a note about this place I could hardly believe it. I have always loved this old-church-turned-hall. The stained glass, the lanterns, the high ceilings. And just a block away from main street. And are you ready?
They’re reopening it as a venue. That’s right, Maple Hall is now available for weddings, birthdays, baby showers, dances, Christmas parties, plays and performances, and whatever else you might need a space for.
Here it is! And here’s some information!
This is the kind of venue that’s a blank slate. You rent the space and then you have the freedom to bring in what you love and need, making this space flexible for a wide variety of needs, and perfect for the kind of person who loves to plan details.
For weddings and dinners you could comfortably seat 120 people in this hall for dinner. The hall also has 120 padded banquet chairs and a number of tables, and if you book here the venue has contacts for bringing in any other items you might need to rent.
For performances the hall could easily seat over 200.
Can you look at these gorgeous lanterns??? *sigh*Â And take a look at the following images of the hall with ideas for different events.
Do you see those stage lights? Great for performances or your DJ.Â
Here’s the entrance to the bar (above) and the bar with skylights (below). Here’s how alcohol works in a place like this. The venue itself isn’t licensed but a special event license can be easily (and inexpensively) obtained. With that license you can bring in your own bartenders and alcohol. If you have any questions about this please feel free to email me. This is how things worked for our wedding (at Southampton Town Hall) and I’d be happy to share my experience with you.
The great thing about this bar is that it’s a full wet bar with a fridge and it has dedicated space just off the main hall, so it’s convenient without taking real estate from where the rest of the action is happening. There’s also a coat room and washrooms just past here.
The kitchen! Some caterers require a full kitchen for their service, and this one is great. It’s spacious and equipped for preparing meals for a large group of people. It’s just down the stairs from the hall.Â
‘So Jill,’ I hear you say, ‘how do I rent this fabulous venue?’
Easy! Call Alison at 519-832-5287 and she’ll be happy to answer your questions. They’re already receiving bookings for this year and next, so I’d jump on it if this looks like the kind of place you’ve been looking for. The website is in progress but you can take a look for now at their facebook page:
