BRASS Awards – Port Elgin Photographer

In my life I’ve lived in a lot of places, some of them very far from here. And for the last 8.5 years I’ve been a resident first of Toronto, and now Mississauga. But despite my mailing address, Port Elgin has always been home. My family and some of my closest friends still live there and I head north as often as humanly possible, and I still feel very much like a local. One of the things that really stands out to me as part of the charm of Saugeen Shores, which includes both Port Elgin, Southampton, and the surrounding area, is the incredible small business community. I love shopping at home and popping into all the shops and restaurants. And I love how important it is to the area to support these small businesses, and how people make an effort to keep them all going. They add so much to the community.
When I was first contacted about photographing the BRASS Awards I was so happy for the opportunity to be part of an evening recognizing business excellence in our community. As a small business owner for the last eight years I know how much it has meant through the years to have encouragement and support from my community, and I love that the town makes such an effort to celebrate the hard work and achievement of the really fantastic entrepreneurs and leaders in the area.
And it was such a fantastic evening. A huge thank you to the organizers who have been working like crazy to coordinate this beautiful event. It all took place at Saugeen Golf Club, which is one of my favourite wedding venues. It’s a gorgeous location and they always do an incredible job. All of the nominees are fantastic and deserving of recognition. If you’re local or going to be in the area, I encourage you to check them out. Congratulations to all of you!
